Praying for Persecuted Christians

Thursday 1st November, All Saints Day, has been set aside as a day for praying for those Christians who are persecuted on account of their faith. The sad truth is that such persecution is very real for millions. As recently as last Sunday, 28th October, the Catholic Church in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria, was attacked by a suicide bomber resulting in the deaths of ten worshippers and serious injuries to scores of others. Whether at the hands of militant Islamists, radical Hindus or un-reformed Communists, many Christians pay a heavy price for their faith in Jesus.

The very least we can do is surround them with our prayers – yes, on the 1st November, but on an ongoing basis. This is something we take seriously at St. Andrew’s and for many years now, there has been a committed group meeting every month to pray for the suffering Church.
